CHARLESTON CITY GUIDE: Leon's Oyster Shop

Leon's is the first place I take a visitor to introduce them to southern food in a vibrant, cool setting. Once we set foot into the converted auto body shop, I don't even need to look at the menu. I always order family style portions of fried chicken, hush puppies and fried oysters.

I’d love to try the Mahi Sandwich — despite the servers always recommending it, I always go with my usual order.

I also appreciate the cheeky ‘cheap beer’ section of their menu. Cocktails at group dinners can completely take over the bill, so it's nice to have a more relaxed but still exciting option. You can even buy a six-pack!

The food at Leon's is always great, and the vibe is always buzzing. Give them a look online or in Charleston: what makes your mouth water?
