Charleston Outdoor Fitness Class Round-Up

Here at the studio, our team strongly believes in a solid work-life balance. Daily(ish) workouts are essential to clearing our heads and doing our jobs well; therefore we carve time out of our work schedules to get our sweat on. In the crazy Covid times, we've pivoted to strictly exercising outdoors. Here's a round-up of the HART team's favorite al-fresco fitness classes.

From sunrise squats at Charlotte Street Park to hot-sauce burpees in the Courtyard at Cannon Green, we've rounded up our top picks for outdoor workouts this October in Charleston. *The class schedules below are subject to change, and we've added the best links for you to connect directly with the studios and instructors.* We plan to update this monthly through COVID, so send us a note if you have a class recommendation to add to the list!

FANNYPACK WITH NELY RUSHER-CLARK
Sundays from 9 am - 10 am at Hampton Park
Wednesdays from 8 am - 8:45 at Cannon Green

OMG. Nely Rusher-Clark's FannyPack™ class is a high energy, high impact cardio blitz with band work, squats, and "hot sauce burpees." She offers her signature one-hour class on Sundays at 9 am (rain or shine!) at Hampton Park. On Wednesdays from  8-8:45 am, she teaches an express FannyPack class in the posh palm-lined Courtyard at Cannon Green. Pro-tip: you enter through the rear at 80 Cannon Street and walk through the main events space to reach the Courtyard. Classes are $18 each paid via Venmo.

Kate Counts teaches "PoHo Yoga"
a juicy, soulful flow under a canopy of live oaks in the rear parking lot at Pour House. No need to sign up in advance. Just show up with your mat, $10 cash (or Venmo).
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING WITH EXEMPLAR

This one is for early risers! Exemplar offers a 45-minute RUSH class most mornings at 6 am. The sunrise class at the Charlotte St. Park is right by the aquarium so you can watch the sunrise over the Harbor while you squat.

All of the butt-burning, thigh-trembling, tummy-tucking goodness of the effective Pure Barre classes in the sunny, spacious outdoor entrance of the studio. You'll feel strong and refreshed after these punchy 7am classes.

 

HIIT WITH MEGGIE AUSTIN

I am so excited that one of my favorite yoga teachers from The Works Meggie Austin is leading HIIT classes in Hampton Park. Her schedule is Tuesdays at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm, Wednesdays at 10:30 am, Thursdays at 7 am and 10:30 am and Fridays at 11:30 am. Meggie is also the queen of Spotify playlists - find her profile here so she can DJ your next workout.

CHS Revolution is taking indoor cycling back outside with weekday rides at The Wanderer, Charleston's newest social club on 1705 Meeting Street Road.

Tuck and burn with Barre 3. This studio offers outdoor classes on Tuesdays at 7:15 am, Wednesdays at 8:30 am, Thursday at 7:15 am, Friday at 7:15 and 8:30, and Sundays at 9 am. The locations alter between Hampton Park gazebo and Waterfront Park. As with all of these classes, be sure to check to the studio's site directly for exact schedule.
